General record for materials related to the life work of Lois Lister, a prominent Canadian landscape architect. 1960- 1995.

The Lois Lister Collection consists of over 300 separate project files, which were carried out for some 250 individual clients, principally in Ontario. Each file generally contains Lister's working notes, sketches and drawings, large original working designs and architectural blueprints, lists of plantings, correspondence and memos, estimates and invoices, and landscape/garden photographs and slides taken by Lister at various stages. There are also many slides and photographs illustrating residential landscapes and gardens, without any accompanying project materials; miscellaneous photographs and slides; newspaper and magazine clippings, a draft article by Lister, and other miscellaneous items.

Lois Lister, born in 1919 in England, grew up in a family with strong gardening and botanical interests. Cambridge University (Economics) was followed by a fellowship in a pioneer Harvard Business School - Radcliffe College post graduate course. In 1953 she began her work as a landscape consultant in Toronto.
